Deportivo Armenio vs. Acassuso: Decisive Match for Promotion

Buenos Aires, December 20 (NA) – Deportivo Armenio will host Acassuso this Sunday in a crucial match that will decide the final promotion from Primera B Metro to Primera Nacional. The match, scheduled for 17:00, will take place at the Estadio Armenio and can be watched on TyC Sports. The designated referee is Hernán Mastrángelo. The first leg ended 1-0 in favor of Acassuso, so Deportivo Armenio is obligated to secure a good result at home to keep their dream of promotion to the second most important division of Argentine football alive. On their way to the playoff final, Deportivo Armenio eliminated Deportivo Italiano with a 2-1 aggregate score in the quarterfinals and advanced to the decisive series thanks to a 1-1 draw on aggregate with Argentino de Merlo, where they progressed due to the away goal rule. Acassuso, for its part, defeated Villa San Carlos 1-0 in the quarterfinals, then drew 1-1 with Real Pilar to reach the final also by virtue of the away goal rule. If they achieve the necessary victory and secure promotion, Deportivo Armenio will return to Primera Nacional after 35 years. During this period, the team spent several seasons in Primera B Metro and even dropped down to Primera C. Meanwhile, Acassuso wants to make history, as the last time it was in Primera Nacional was in 1946, almost 80 years ago. In between, the team spent many years in Primera C and even had a stint in Primera D. The team that secures the long-awaited promotion will join Midland as the teams moving up to Primera Nacional, as the latter earned this benefit by dominating throughout the year by winning the Apertura and Clausura tournaments. The Primera B Metro grand final will be covered live by the Argentine News Agency.
